The NEW Podcast Monster:
Better Service. Same Price.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the changes here at Podcast Monster! Please forgive the length. I just want you to know what's happening and why. If you have ANY questions, please reach out to me through text or email and let's talk through it. I truly believe every single one of these changes will make for a better experience for everybody involved and for better shows.
What's changing at Podcast Monster?
New Production Calendar
Basically, a lot of us need to get more organized and that starts and ends with me. Over September and the first half of October, I will be working diligently with you to help streamline your processes, refine show concepts, and create more content. By working together, we’ll be able to reduce the amount of time you spend producing your show on a week-to-week basis and these adjustments will provide me and my team with more time to create top-quality edits and mixes.
The ultimate goal is to push all Podcast Monster production schedules ahead so that we can be sure we’re producing high quality content. The added benefit is that this new approach will allow you to relax and enjoy breaks/vacations without having to worry about your next podcast episode. (Also, your beloved Nick needs to re-enter the social world and be able to relax at night occasionally. A happy Nick means better shows!)
I'm willing to go a long way to help make this happen, so start thinking now about how I can help serve you.
In short, this is going to be great for all of us - otherwise I wouldn’t do it.
New Subscription Model
In an effort to streamline my processes and have the resources to afford the high caliber editors and writers that you expect, I’ve decided to switch my billing procedures. I used to edit your show, publish it, then bill you after the fact. Now, Podcast Monster is operating as a subscription service. For a flat rate every month, your show will be edited and published. (Of course, I’ll still provide you with my trademark “Nick cares about this too much” charm for free.)
Let me be clear: Your current rate is NOT changing. While my rates for new clients have increased over the last year, I feel so lucky to have such supportive clients who have allowed me to do what I love. I’ve got your backs and would never try to screw you over. The new subscription model will bill automatically every month (preferably on the first, but I’m flexible) and will allow us to focus on why we’re here: creating a compelling podcast that reflects positively on you and your brand.
New Services: SHOW NOTES, SOCIAL MEDIA SUPPORT & PRE-PRODUCTION ASSISTANCE
Show notes are important. It makes your website come alive and fresh content helps convince Google to move your page up higher in search results. However, show notes are also a pain. That’s why I’m excited to finally offer a show notes service from Podcast Monster.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been talking to some friends of mine about writing for you. These are people with advanced degrees (Master’s and pursuing Ph.D.’s), but they love podcasting and wouldn’t mind some extra cash. Each person working on a Podcast Monster show also shares my commitment to creating the best product possible because they understand that it not only reflects on you, but also on them. I’ve known these guys for years and I’m relieved that I have people that I can rely on and share with you.
For clients who decide to add this service to their subscription plan, we’ll also pull out a series of quotes that you can use for your social media promotions. That will save you a lot of time and provide you with tweets and posts that you can schedule ahead of time with a link back to your site. (While final details are still being ironed out, we might even be able to make some social-friendly artwork for you… that sort of depends on demand.)
Either way, this can save you considerable time and energy while helping to build your brand. Win-win!
Lastly, some of my new clients are paying for more pre-production work from me. This can range from scheduling interviews to meeting directly with guests and testing their equipment. I also will help shape episodes and concepts to help steer segments and episodes. If you're interested in something like this, just let me know.
New Editors - It’s a Jaworski Thing!
My brothers and I last Halloween. (I'm in the middle.)
As Podcast Monster has grown (almost entirely from word of mouth from my amazing clients!), it became clear that I needed to add some additional editors to the mix. However, I kept putting it off because I didn’t want the product to suffer. Over time, though, it became clear that I would need to get some help if I wanted to maintain our quality of service. The problem: Who can I find that cares as much about the final product as me? Who understands that editing is both a science and an art? Basically, who is as much as a perfectionist as I am?
Since I can’t clone myself, I found the genetically closest answers (literally): Matthew and Kenny. They're my older brothers. They’re both trained musicians, composers, and general creative types who know their way around an edit. Also, they both love podcasts!
I actually auditioned some other editors (and even trained one), but ultimately couldn’t let any of them join the team. They just lacked that concern for the little things. My brothers, however, get it intuitively. It’s been a lot of fun to talk with Matt about each episode as he finishes an edit - I kinda wish you could hear our conversations. We talk about specific moments in an episode and decide if we made the right call with an edit. It's super nerdy, but it's great for your show.
Ensuring Quality
Because this entire expansion was fueled by my desire to ensure a certain quality of production, please trust me when I say that you don't need to worry. Matt has already been doing some edits and every single one of them has been great! (Kenny will start training soon.) Plus, we have systems in place to resolve any questions that an editor has. Basically, if your editor is unsure of something or wants to make some cuts for content, then they send me notes and I review every concern. Every. One.
Also, as of this moment, I'm still doing final assembly and publication to Libsyn for every single episode - that's another opportunity for a quality control check. (If you choose to add show notes to your subscription, then I've already spoken with my writers about how to do quality control - they're another stop to ensure that the show is top-notch.)
Lastly, by sticking to our new production calendar, you'll be in a position to review an edit well ahead of when it goes live.
This Is The Section Where I Thank You and Ask You For a Favor
Again, as I said in the email, I'm so appreciative of the trust that you've placed in me. It actually sort of blows my mind some days. As the months go on, your support has helped me gain some confidence and a sense of myself. So thank you. Please let me know if there's anything you need from me - you know I've got your back.
Also, if you want to support me even more, please share my services with anybody who might be looking for a podcast producer, editor, or consultant. I do a bunch of things that deal with audio, actually. I've done restoration for some video companies and, more recently, I completed a really neat oral history for four brothers who have been married to their wives for almost 50 years! If anybody has an audio need, I'd be so grateful if you could recommend me.
Okay. That's it! I'll talk to you in the upcoming week and we'll get this all done. It's going to be a piece of cake.
And it's going to be awesome.
