A little birdie told us you were looking for a Senior Editor with a background in podcasts and education.

Well, have we got good news for you!

Nick Jaworski Cheat Sheet:

  • Before launching his podcast production company, Nick was a licensed K-12 music teacher in Illinois, holding both undergraduate and graduate degrees in music education. (He still actively engages in education by teaching high school marching band!)

  • Since transitioning from teaching, Nick has become a versatile Senior Editor and producer, editing and/or producing more than 3,000 podcast episodes with 60+ million total downloads. His work spans digital publications and podcasts, including two education-focused series, making him well-suited for roles that require creativity and the ability to spearhead new podcast beats.

  • Nick's work has earned accolades from Apple's New & Noteworthy, AV Club's Podmass, and Bello Collective's '100 Outstanding Podcasts from 2020'. Lulu Miller of Radiolab praised his work as a "freight train of ideas + experiments," highlighting his knack for transformative, solutions-based journalism.

  • Ten years ago, Nick's "white whale" podcast was The Sound of Music Education, a magazine-style show aimed at educators, administrators, and policymakers. He also served as Senior Editor for the digital publication Leading Notes, where he focused on innovative thinking in music education—exactly the kind of mission-driven work he’s passionate about.

  • In addition to his work in podcasting and education, he also spent six years in the Illinois Air National Guard, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.

  • Nick’s entire career in music education was dedicated to transformative, positive change, making him an ideal fit for a role focused on reporting stories about what’s working—and what’s not—in education. He’s very excited to join a dynamic editorial team to launch new podcast series and contribute to solutions-based journalism. Seriously, a role like this sounds like a dream come true!

Portfolio Deep Dive: Shame Rules!

Back in 2020, Nick launched a narrative podcast miniseries about a concept he called “structural shame”—how society wields shame in various ways to influence the behavior of individuals. The finished product, Shame Rules!, was researched, written, hosted, edited, and art directed by Nick. And… it’s pretty good! This is an example of Nick working solo in an office. Just imagine what he could do with an entire team!

Episode Feature: Patient Zero

The first episode of Shame Rules! shares the story of Gaetan Dugas, the “Patient Zero of AIDS” in North America, and explores the theory that a shame-fueled rage led him to intentionally spread the disease to dozens of other men. Along the way, we touch on topics such as internalized homophobia, conversion therapy, Typhoid Mary, cluster studies, and typewriter therapy.

Please also check out the episodes on 90s purity culture and parades.

Portfolio Deep Dive: Where There’s Smoke

Where There’s Smoke was a collaboration between Nick and Brett Gajda. Billed as a self-development show through the lens of current events, pop culture, and personal experience, the podcast covered a wide range of topics over the course of its run. The episode below is included because it’s almost entirely a “Nick episode,” written, recorded, and edited within about 48 hours. It’s an episode that feels good and still holds cultural relevance.

Miscellaneous Projects

Here is a sampling of the shows Nick has worked on over the years, covering topics ranging from business leadership to health to true crime.
